Project Overview
Holliday Group served as the general contractor and construction manager for Hacienda Del Mar, a beautiful luxury waterfront condominium community in Placida, FL. The main goal was to create a true resort-style living experience with a seamless indoor-outdoor feel. As an experienced luxury residential contractor, we always take extra care when building on the coastline. Our focus was on safely and responsibly constructing high-end amenities—including a custom marina, dual clubhouses, and extensive recreational areas—to ensure they look incredible and last for generations.
The Challenge: Coastal Demands and Large-Scale Planning
Building an 11-building complex right on the Florida water comes with unique challenges. Being so close to the tide means the buildings need highly specialized foundations, and the structures themselves must be tough enough to handle coastal storms and salty air.
Normally, preparing a waterfront site involves heavy land clearing and moving massive amounts of dirt to make the ground strong enough to hold multi-story buildings. However, that standard approach can be incredibly disruptive to the beautiful coastal setting. The client needed a way to guarantee the buildings were structurally perfect without relying on messy groundwork that could ruin the site’s high-end appeal or slow down the timeline.
On top of that, we were building eleven four-story buildings (with parking underneath), an entry guardhouse, and complex pool facilities all at the same time. Moving heavy equipment around a tight waterfront space required careful planning, top-notch site management, and strict safety rules.
The Strategy: Smart Engineering and Controlled Site Management

Deep Foundation Systems
Instead of digging up and compacting the whole site, we drove long support pilings deep into the ground until they hit solid earth. This provided a rock-solid base suited perfectly for coastal soils, ensuring maximum strength against hurricane winds without making a mess of the property.
Hidden Underground Drainage
To handle heavy Florida downpours and high tides without bulky above-ground trenches, we installed a custom underground drainage system. This smart setup safely caught and redirected water, protecting the buildings and keeping the job site dry and secure throughout construction.
Step-by-Step Construction Staging
Holliday Group’s project managers controlled the large-scale build in highly organized stages. By keeping heavy machinery in specific, designated lanes and using the right equipment for the job, we were able to safely build the marina and waterfront areas while keeping the entire project strictly on schedule.
